Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion
  • 1 tsp whole peppercorn
  • 1kg pork belly or shoulder, cubed
  • 6 to 8 cups of beef or pork broth
  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced in half
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 medium cabbage, quartered
  • Salt to taste

Nilagang Baboy Recipe

Directions

  • Heat the oil in the pot.
  • Saute the onions, add the peppercorn and cook for 20 seconds.
  • Add the pork. Continue cooking until it turns light brown.
  • Pour in either the beef or pork broth. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 60 minutes or until the pork becomes tender.
  • Add the ripe bananas and potatoes. Continue boiling for 12 minutes.
  • Put in the cabbage. Add salt to taste. Cover and continue to cook for 3 minutes.
  • Serve while hot.
