Bola-bola can be eaten in various ways—it can be stacked in a tower as appetisers, wrapped in siopaos, or served in a hearty bowl of noodle soup. Ingredients

  • 500g of ground beef
  • 65g of onion, grated
  • 3 cloves of garlic, grated
  • 65g of carrot, grated
  • 2 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp of oyster sauce
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ tsp of salt
  • ¼ tsp of black pepper
  • Flour (for dredging)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Directions

  • In a bowl, add ground beef, onion, garlic, carrot, soy sauce, oyster sauce, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Scoop 2 tablespoons worth of the meat mixture and shape them into a ball. Repeat until you have formed all your meatballs.
  • Dredge the meatballs in flour until evenly coated on all sides.
  • In a pan over medium-high heat, add vegetable oil.
  • Add the meatballs to the pan in batches and cook for 5 minutes or until they brown.
  • Transfer to a plate and serve!
