Beef tapa is every Filipino’s favourite breakfast dish. If you’re in a hurry in the morning and need a quick meal to-go, you can prepare this beef tapa recipe the night before and fry it up the next morning. Typically served with fried rice and a sunny-side-up egg, it’s a well-balanced meal that’ll fuel you for your day ahead.

Ingredients
300g of beef sirloin, sliced thinly
¼ tsp of baking soda
3 tbsp of lemon juice
3 tbsp of soy sauce
⅛ tsp of pepper
½ tsp of sugar
1 tbsp of cooking oil
1 tbsp of garlic, minced

1 mallet
1 bowl

Directions
Using a mallet, pound the beef slices until they’re a quarter-inch thick.
Transfer the beef into a bowl and coat it with baking soda thoroughly.
Add lemon juice, soy sauce, pepper, sugar, and mix until well combined.
Cover the bowl with cling wrap and leave it in the fridge overnight.
In a pan over medium heat, add oil.
Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
Add in the marinated beef and sauté for 5 minutes or until browned.
Ladle into a bowl and serve!
Shorter Marinade Time
When preparing this beef tapa recipe, it is highly recommended to leave the beef to marinate overnight in the fridge. However, you can reduce the time to a minimum of 4 hours. Of course, the longer, the better, as it allows the flavours to intensify.
